Celebrating Juneteenth at Cooper

Today, the Cooper community celebrates Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the complete realization of the Emancipation Proclamation and the liberation of slaves in America. Through song, dance, and solidarity, we honor the legacy of African and African American slaves and embrace a future founded on equality.

Cooper hosted two Juneteenth commemorations at our Camden and Cherry Hill campuses today, with two more events planned for our Moorestown and Voorhees locations tomorrow. You can view the event programs and find additional details about tomorrow’s celebrations here.

Vice President of Diversity and Talent Acquisition Ardella Coleman opened our celebrations, which were sponsored by Cooper’s African American Empowerment Enterprise (AAEE) Team Resource Group. During this commemoration of freedom, AAEE leadership team member DaNesha Phillips sang Amazing Grace, accompanied by members of the New York Fellowship Mass Choir. Pastor David Wright, the choir, and his band also lent their voices and uplifting songs in celebration of the holiday.
