Co-CEO Update – October 26, 2022

What You Should Know This Week:  

  • Emergency Blood Drive. The Cooper Blood Bank is asking for your help during a critical blood shortage. Now, more than ever, we need the support of our team members to help save the lives of our patients. The drive takes place on Friday, November 11, 2022. Those who donate will receive a thank-you gift. To sign up, click here.
  • Sports Jersey Friday. It’s an exciting time to be a Philadelphia sports fan, with the Phillies heading to the World Series on Friday and the Eagles the only undefeated team in the NFL. With all the attention on sports locally, you can wear your favorite sports jersey to work on Friday, provided it’s appropriate for your work that day.
  • Engagement Survey Deadline Approaching. The deadline to participate in the annual engagement surveys for team members, physicians and APPs, and residents and fellows is November 7, 2022. Your participation is important and the results of the engagement survey directly help us improve your work experience as well as the patient experience at Cooper. We encourage you to participate.   • Halloween Safety Tips. To ensure the safety of your children this Halloween, please click here for some important tips.
  • Congratulations, DEI T-shirt contest winners. We want to thank everyone who participated and spent time thinking about creative ways to encapsulate our DEI journey at Cooper. To see the contestants, their submissions, and our DEI T-shirt contest winner, click here.
  • You still have time. Good Catch Voting has been extended and will now close on November 11, 2022. To vote now, and for more information, click here.  
  • Holiday scrubs are BACK. During shifts that begin, end, or fall on holidays between now and January 2, 2023, team members are permitted to wear holiday-themed scrub tops with standard scrub pants. Holidays include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Day. For more information, click here.
  • The Everyday mobile food and drink app for Cooper Court cafeteria orders at the hospital is LIVE today, October 26, 2022. The Everyday app replaces the Bite by Sodexo mobile app and provide more efficient results. To start using the Everyday app, click here.
  • Gratitude is the attitude. There are many benefits of practicing gratitude, both mental and physical. This holiday season, we are asking all Cooper team members to pause and reflect on positive things in their personal and professional lives and share them with the greater Cooper community on our virtual gratitude wall. The wall is always active here.

  • VOTE for your favorite pumpkin on Pulse+. The deadline to vote for this year’s Give Them Pumpkin to Talk About contest is this Monday, October 31. This year’s theme is music.
  • The 2022 Flu Vaccination Program will continue until Wednesday, December 7, 2022. The flu shot clinic schedule is here. You can receive a COVID-19 booster shot at any of the flu shot clinic locations – no appointment is necessary. Click here for more information and for exemption information.

  • Theme of the Week: It is National Respiratory Care Week from October 23 through October 29, 2022. During the pandemic, respiratory therapy teams nationwide were vital in fighting COVID-19. Their resiliency, commitment, compassion, and skill make Cooper’s respiratory therapists a valuable part of our clinical teams.
