Co-CEO Update – November 2, 2022

Dear Cooper Team:

Thank you for all you do for our patients, their families, and for each other. Please stay safe and healthy.

What You Should Know This Week:

  • This month, the Level I Trauma Center at Cooper is celebrating its 40th anniversary of serving South Jersey. From humble beginnings in November 1982, starting as a “demonstration project” to assess the need for dedicated trauma services in the region, Cooper is now one of only three state-designated Level 1 Trauma Centers in New Jersey and is the busiest in the region, providing life-saving services to nearly 4,000 patients annually. Big congratulations and thank you to our extraordinary trauma team! To read the press release that will go out tomorrow, click here.
  • Security Update. Your security and that of our patients and visitors remain a top priority. Click here to read a message from our CEOs, and to watch a short video with Bob Hockel, John Ward, and Gary Catts on what’s new in Security.
  • The November 2022 paid time off (PTO) sell back opportunity is almost here. If you wish to participate, you must submit your requested PTO sell back hours through Employee Self Service between November 14 and November 28, 2022. Click here for more information.
  • The 2022 Berkowitz Family Foundation lecture program – Finding Balance: The Promise and Pitfalls of Modern Medicine – will take place next Wednesday, November 9, 2022. The lecture will feature Jonathan Reisman, MD, who is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Cooper and the author of “The Unseen Body.” This is a free event, but registration is required. For more information, click here.
  • Sports Jersey Friday. Congratulations to the Philadelphia Phillies, who knocked it out of the park with FIVE home runs last night. The Philadelphia Eagles are also on a roll with an undefeated season. Show your spirit and wear your favorite sports jersey to work on Friday, provided it’s appropriate for your work that day.

Reminders:

  • Engagement Survey Deadline Approaching. The deadline to participate in the annual engagement surveys for team members, physicians and APPs, and residents and fellows is MONDAY. Your participation is important and the results of the engagement survey directly help us improve your work experience, as well as the patient experience at Cooper. We encourage you to participate. For more information, click here.
  • You still have time. Good Catch voting has been extended but will close this weekend. More votes means more team member prizes; help us reach 500+ votes on Pulse+ and increase your chances to win great swag. To vote now, and for more information, click here.
  • Holiday scrubs are BACK. During shifts that begin, end, or fall on holidays between now and January 2, 2023, team members are permitted to wear holiday-themed scrub tops with standard scrub pants. Holidays include Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Day. Remember to post your holiday scrub photos to Pulse+! For more information, click here.
  • The Everyday mobile food and drink app for Cooper Court cafeteria orders at the hospital is LIVE. The Everyday app replaces the Bite by Sodexo mobile app and provides more efficient results. To start using the Everyday app, click here.
  • Gratitude is the attitude. There are many benefits of practicing gratitude, both mental and physical. This holiday season, we are asking all Cooper team members to pause and reflect on positive things in their personal and professional lives and share them with the greater Cooper community on our virtual gratitude wall. The wall is always active here.
