Co-CEO Update – March 5, 2025

Dear Cooper Team:

We hope everyone is doing well and having a healthy and safe week. We appreciate your unwavering dedication to our patients, community, and one another. And to those who celebrate, we wish you a blessed Ramadan or meaningful Lenten season.

What You Should Know This Week:  

  • GO Blue for Colon Cancer Awareness. This Friday, March 7, 2025, we encourage all team members to wear blue to recognize National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Show your support and raise awareness about the importance of colon cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. For more information, click here, and don’t forget to post photos to Pulse+.
  • Weapons Screening System Coming to Cooper Camden Next Week. In Q4 last year, we approved a new weapons screening system, like those used at sporting events and other public buildings, for Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The detection system is one more way we are increasing safety at Cooper. The system will be installed on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, and, if successful, will be added at other Cooper facilities in the future. For more information, click here.
  • Tomorrow Is National Hospitalist Day. Hospitalists play a critical role in providing comprehensive care for hospitalized patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also educate students and residents and act as physician advisors for the care coordination and utilization management teams. Thank you, hospitalists.
  • National Employee Appreciation Day Is Friday. We are grateful all year for the dedicated team members at Cooper. Your extraordinary work, compassion, and unwavering commitment to make Cooper the best place to be a patient, the best place to work, and the best place to learn and practice medicine makes a difference. Each of you brings unique talents and strengths that are vital to our collective success. Thank you for all that you do.
  • Cape Microsoft 365 Migration. Beginning next week, the Cooper Cape team will be moving over to the Cooper Microsoft 365 environment for email, calendars, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Copilot and all other Microsoft 365 applications and functions.   • More Food and Coffee Options. The Cooper Court Cafeteria in Camden is expanding food and caffeine options. Additionally, the cafeteria grill is now open daily from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, click here.
  • Emotional Well-Being Topic of the Month. Optum Emotional Wellbeing Solutions is our employee assistance program (EAP). Team members have access to comprehensive mental wellness and work-life balance benefits and resources, including a monthly newsletter. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, this month’s theme is women’s mental health and well-being. Click here to read more.
  • MLK Boulevard Lane Closure in Camden. PSE&G will perform gas work on MLK Boulevard beginning tomorrow at 8 p.m. through Friday at 5 a.m. Eastbound travel between Broadway and Haddon Avenue will be reduced to one lane. Team members leaving the hospital garage after 8 p.m. will be directed to the Benson Street exit. The Stevens Street exit will close at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Click here for more information.
  • Hospital Assault Response and Prevention (HARP) Training. HARP training includes assault safety best practices, de-escalation strategies, protect-exit skills, and management techniques for handling volatile patients and visitors. Sessions are conducted in person at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Click here for more information.
  • All About Nutrition. Join Dana C. Campetti, MHS, PA-C, on March 12, 2025, for “Wellness Matters: All About Nutrition,” an informative session exploring how the food we eat fuels our bodies and supports overall well-being. For additional information or to register, click here.

  • CCBO Parking. Cooper team members assigned to the surface parking area at the CCBO (L3 Harris) are now able to park closer to the building. For more information, click here.
  • Advanced HAZMAT Life Support Courses in Camden. Please join us on April 8, 2025, for a four-hour course that trains health care professionals to medically manage patients with acute radiation syndrome and internal contamination with radionuclides.
