What You Should Know This Week:

  • National Voter Registration Day. With the presidential election less than 50 days away, you want to make sure you’re registered to vote. To register to vote, check your registration status, or learn more, click here. Please be advised that the voter registration deadlines in New Jersey and Pennsylvania are 21 days and 15 days before Election Day, respectively.
  • National Hispanic Heritage Month. Please join Cooper’s Latinos Unidos Team Resource Group in celebrating the month with Wepa Wednesdays – a delicious showcase of food from diverse Hispanic cultures available to purchase for lunch at the Camden and Cape hospital cafeterias and some of our ambulatory locations beginning Wednesday, September 18, 2024.   • Yesterday It Was All About IT – National Information Technology (IT) Professionals Day. We would like to recognize and thank our Cooper IT team members for their outstanding contributions. Your dedication to maintaining our clinical and business applications and technology infrastructure, providing training and project management, ensuring security, solving complex problems, and supporting our day-to-day operations is truly appreciated.   • Get It Right, Make It Safe. Also yesterday, we celebrated World Patient Safety Day, which raises public awareness and fosters collaboration among patients, health workers, policymakers, and health care leaders to improve patient safety. This year’s theme was “Improving diagnosis for patient safety.” To learn more, click here.
  • Rescheduled – Multicultural Awareness and Vendor Fair. Please join the WAVE (We All Value Everyone) multicultural team resource group on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, to enjoy international food, music, and products. Click here for more information.
  • 2024 Flu Vaccination Program. New Jersey state law requires an annual flu vaccination for all individuals working in hospitals, nursing homes, or home health care agencies.   • New Episode: Out in the Crowd With Mazz and O’Dowd. The latest edition of Cooper’s podcast about team members features Steven Ross, MD, and John Porter, MD, discussing the history of Cooper’s Level I Trauma Center, as well as their shared love of Star Wars. Reminders:

  • ServiceNow Requests Within Epic. A new feature that allows you to easily submit IT service issues directly within your Epic session. This system is live Today, September 18, 2024. For more information, click here.
  • Kelemen Entrance Night Closings. Now through Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Kelemen entrance at Cooper University Hospital in Camden will be closed at night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, for renovations. During the day, there will be an alternate entrance to help alleviate crowding.
  • Nominations Open for 2024 Armed Forces Person of the Year Award. To nominate a team member who served in the U.S. military, click here. The deadline for nominations is September 30, 2024.
