- On Thursday, October 5, 2023, team members are invited to a screening of HBO’s “Bleed Out” documentary from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the CMSRU auditorium. “Bleed Out” chronicles one family’s experience with medical errors; the program will be followed by a panel discussion. - World Patient Safety Day takes place on Sunday, September 17, 2023. This day serves as a reminder of Cooper’s commitment to patient safety and the important roles each of us play in delivering safe and reliable care. - This week is Nursing Professional Development Week. Thank you to all of our nursing professional development practitioners and clinical educators who make a positive impact every day as essential supporters of frontline team members. They provide high-quality education to nurses throughout all stages of their careers, ensuring that they are recognized for quality, evidence-based practice, and patient safety. - This fall, Cooper will host the first New Jersey Social Determinants of Health Hackathon. The event will explore innovative ways to leverage health information technology to better engage at-risk populations, improve access to care, and address issues of equity and chronically poor health outcomes for underserved and marginalized populations at both the local and state level. - This week is Health Care Environmental Services Week. As the frontline defense against serious infections throughout our facilities, Cooper’s dedicated EVS team does an exceptional job every day to ensure that our facilities are clean and safe for our patients, their families, and Cooper team members. Thank you for all that you do.
- Cooper has introduced a new program to help military veterans improve their access to health care using tablet devices pre-loaded with MyChart and TelaDoc links that will allow them to communicate and have virtual visits with their providers. Click here to read more.
- This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved an updated COVID-19 vaccine. We expect additional guidance from the CDC this week and when the vaccine becomes available to us. For more information, click here.

- All month long, we are celebrating Women in Medicine Month. Women in Medicine at Cooper is an inclusive group of providers and educators from Cooper and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University who align to support women in medicine and serve as an educational resource for the community. - Sepsis Awareness Month. Help save lives by raising awareness of the leading cause of deaths in U.S. hospitals – sepsis. Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming response to infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. It affects an estimated 49 million people worldwide each year. - National Preparedness Month. Disasters and emergencies can happen at any time. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, Ready.gov, and Cooper’s own Division of EMS/Disaster Medicine are valuable resources to help you stay prepared. - Cooper’s National Voter Registration Day event will be held in the hospital lobby on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more about Cooper’s efforts to support voter registration in the community, click here.
- Mindful Mondays. Join Cooper’s Compassion and Resiliency Experience Program for Mindful Mondays to learn how to reduce stress, improve attention, boost the immune system, and live more presently. All team members are welcome to drop in – no experience is necessary, and no registration is required. There was a very successful turn out for the first session last week.
