Co-CEO Message – September 11, 2024

Dear Cooper Team:

We hope everyone is having a healthy, safe week. Thank you for all that you do for our patients, community, and each other. Today, on September 11, we remember and honor those we lost 23 years ago.

What You Should Know This Week:

  • Largest First-Day Orientation Class. On Monday, we welcomed the largest class of 120 new team members on their first day of orientation. As more patients than ever continue to seek care at Cooper, we continue to grow our talented workforce to serve them. Click here to see the picture.
  • Building on Our Commitment to Camden and Its Residents. Cooper’s Project Imagine will significantly expand the Camden campus to meet the current and future demand at Cooper University Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. We will break ground for the first tower in October. As part of a unique agreement among Cooper, our construction manager, Torcon Inc. / P. Agnes Inc., and the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, the partners will ensure a significant focus on hiring Camden residents and promoting an inclusive recruitment of apprentices and overall construction workforce.   • Cooper Vein Center’s Efforts Were Not in Vain – Accreditation Achieved. Congratulations to Cooper’s Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery for earning the prestigious Vein Center Accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for the Cooper Vein Center location in Voorhees. This recognition highlights Cooper’s commitment to delivering exceptional care and upholding the highest standards in vein treatment. Click here to read more.
  • Sepsis Awareness Month. Help save lives by raising awareness of the leading cause of deaths in U.S. hospitals – sepsis – the body’s overwhelming response to infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death.   • Special Symposium This Friday. Join Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Kaitlan Baston, MD, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health, for the “Housing First: From Street to Stability” symposium on Friday, September 13, 2024.   • September 15 Through October 15 Is National Hispanic Heritage Month. This special month celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Please join Cooper’s Latinos Unidos Team Resource Group in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month with Wepa Wednesdays – a delicious showcase of food from diverse Hispanic cultures for lunch at the Camden hospital cafeteria beginning Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
  • Epic-to-ServiceNow Support Request Integration. We are excited to announce a new feature that allows you to submit incidents directly within your Epic session. This system will go live on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. For more information, click here.
  • This Friday Is National Celiac Disease Awareness Day. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that affects approximately one in 100 people worldwide and occurs when the ingestion of gluten triggers an immune response that damages the small intestine. Reminders:

  • Kelemen Entrance Night Closings. Now through Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Kelemen entrance will be closed at night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, for renovations. During the day, there will be an alternate entrance to help alleviate crowding.
  • Inaugural 2024 ​Linda Brand ​Scholarship ​Golf ​Tournament. Join us on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to benefit The Cooper Foundation’s Linda Brand Scholarship Fund, which is dedicated to the professional development of Cooper team members. Click here for more information.
