- This week, 10 years ago, Cooper partnered with MD Anderson Cancer Center to create MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and take things to a whole new level. Thanks to this tremendous collaboration, we have cared for thousands of patients and have become the region’s leading provider of cancer care. We are so proud of what we have accomplished together. - MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper was proud to serve as co-host of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Partner Summit last week in Philadelphia. This was the first time the Partner Summit was held outside of Houston. During this three-day event, colleagues from MD Anderson partner institutions across the country came together to learn best practices, align strategy, and share ideas on the delivery of cancer care for today and tomorrow. Dr. Peter Pisters, President of MD Anderson Cancer Center, also visited and toured MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Thank you to everyone on our team who contributed to the event’s success. - Congratulations to Evelyn Robles-Rodriguez, DNP, APN, AOCN, for being named the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year by National APP Week! Evelyn, who was selected among dozens of nominees across the nation, is an oncology advanced practice nurse and Director of Outreach, Prevention and Survivorship at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. - Roadwork near the Medical School Garage (on Benson Street from Fifth Street to Williams Street) began today and will continue through this Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The work should not affect early morning shifts but will affect late morning and afternoon shifts. Please plan accordingly if you take this route. Click here for additional information.
- This week is Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week. Please join us in taking the time to recognize the dedicated professionals who provide nutritious meals to our patients, visitors, and team members every day. Your contribution is integral to the day-to-day operations of our health care organization.
- This week is also National Health Care Supply Chain Week, which is an opportunity to show our appreciation to our devoted supply chain professionals for their exceptional contributions to patient care and the innovative ways they support us and our community.
- October is National Physical Therapy Month. Cooper’s dedicated physical therapy practitioners provide patients with hands-on care, prescribed movement, and education that improves their quality of life and empowers them to take an active role in their care. - Join us on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, as we celebrate Colonel Kirby Gross, MD, and his retirement from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service. Col. Gross is a trauma surgeon assigned to Cooper’s Division of Trauma in the Section of Military, Diplomatic, and Field Surgical Affairs. All Cooper team members are welcome to join the celebration. - Cooper now offers comprehensive dental services for adults through Cooper University Dental Health, located in the Sheridan Pavilion, Suite 513B. The new and growing service line, which is part of Cooper’s Center for Comprehensive Health, provides patients with preventative and diagnostic dental care, as well as both basic and major restorative services in a new and modern space. Reminders:
- Week on the Wards. As part of their education at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, first-year medical school students gain early exposure to clinical hospital medicine and hospital operations during their week on the wards, or “WOWs,” at Cooper. From October 9 through October 20, 2023, the students will be moving throughout the hospital in both clinical and non-clinical areas during all shifts. - Cooper’s 2023 Flu Vaccination Program has begun and will continue until Thursday, December 7, 2023. You can view the flu shot clinic schedule here. For more information about the flu clinic, click here. The new COVID-19 vaccine is also NOW available at our flu vaccination clinics. Team members can get the new COVID-19 vaccine free at our clinics. If you have Cooper health benefits for your family, you and your family will have no out-of-pocket costs for the new COVID-19 vaccine no matter where you receive it. If you have other health benefits, you may have out-of-pocket costs.
- Cooper Security town halls begin tonight. Join representatives from Cooper Security and local law enforcement agencies to learn more about security improvements that have been implemented at Cooper based on team member feedback, followed by a Q&A session. The first town hall takes place tonight, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Cooper Conference Center, Room C103/104. Click here to read more.
- Tomorrow, October 5, 2023, team members are invited to a screening of HBO’s “Bleed Out” documentary from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the CMSRU auditorium. “Bleed Out” chronicles one family’s experience with medical errors; the program will be followed by a panel discussion. - Cooper will host the first New Jersey Social Determinants of Health Hackathon. The event will explore innovative ways to leverage health information technology to better engage at-risk populations, improve access to care, and address issues of equity and chronically poor health outcomes for underserved and marginalized populations at both the local and state level. - Mindful Mondays. Join Cooper’s Compassion and Resiliency Experience Program to learn how to reduce stress, improve attention, boost the immune system, and live more presently.
