Co-CEO Message – October 2, 2024

Dear Cooper Team:

We hope everyone is having a healthy, safe week. Thank you for all that you do for our patients, community, and each other.

What You Should Know This Week:

  • Epic Accomplishment. Yesterday, we successfully transitioned Cooper at Cape to the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system and the Sunquest Lab Information System (LIS). This was accomplished in record time. We want to thank everyone involved in this monumental project. Your dedication and hard work have made this transition a success and it will make a significant positive impact for our patients and for Cooper. Great work, team.
  • Please Vote for Cooper’s Emergency Medical Services Team. Cooper EMS is one of four nominees for the 2024 EMS Community Service Award from the New Jersey Department of Health for their Harm Reduction Project to provide unhoused individuals and residents of Camden City with essentials. With grant support from the NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Cooper Addiction Medicine, Cooper EMS has provided the community with wound care kits, xylazine and fentanyl test strips, hygiene kits, food, clothing, and educational materials.   • KROCFEST. Join the Salvation Army Camden Kroc Center’s 10th annual KROCFEST this Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a concert from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. From interactive games and swimming for kids to arts and celebrity workshops for adults, there is something for everyone to enjoy.   • Sports Jersey Friday. With the MLB playoffs starting and the NFL season underway, it’s time to show your team spirit and wear your favorite sports jersey to work this Friday, October 4, 2024, provided it’s appropriate for your work that day.
  • Women in Medicine. During the month of September, we caught up with a number of Cooper team members to hear about their experiences as women in medicine: their personal stories, professional journeys, and paths forward for the next generation. To watch these extraordinary stories, click here.
  • Just WOW. Week on the Wards 2024 is approaching on October 7 to 18. As part of their education at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), first-year medical school students gain early exposure to clinical medicine and hospital operations as part of their Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course and clinical week on the wards, or “WOWs.” To learn more, click here.
  • National Coming Out Day. The Cooper Pride TRG is sponsoring a celebration of National Coming Out Day,including an educational Quizzo event on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Cooper Conference Center. All are welcome. For details, click here.

On November 15, join Cooper’s Military, Diplomatic, and Field Surgical Affairs (MILDAF) team in recognizing the significance of the Battles of Fort Mifflin and Fort Mercer. This initiative brings together Cooper and military communities across generations, fostering a shared interest in our rich local history. Click here to register.
  • Register to Vote. With the presidential election approaching, you want to make sure you’re registered to vote.
