What You Should Know This Week:
- Tomorrow, March 7, Is National Hospitalist Day. Please join us in celebrating and thanking a hospitalist for all that they do to provide quality care to patients, comfort to families, and assistance to their fellow team members.
- Cooper’s Credit Rating Gets Another Upgrade. Our credit rating for bonds was upgraded by S&P Global Ratings to an “A” with a positive outlook. This is the second-straight year S&P has increased Cooper’s credit rating, and it follows an “A+” credit rating from Fitch Ratings last month. To read more, click here.
- March Mobility Madness. Nine inpatient adult units in the hospital are joining the Johns Hopkins Activity and Mobility Program, which Cooper adopted to help combat harm to hospitalized patients who are immobile. These units will join the initial five inpatient adult units that kicked off the program in June 2023. Thank you to all the teams involved in this important #everyBODYmoves initiative. - Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Thank you to all our team members who participated in Dress in Blue Day last Friday to raise awareness for colorectal cancer and screening. - Friday is International Women’s Day and March is Women’s History Month. March provides an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognize the significant achievements of women everywhere. We are grateful for our women team members who fill critical roles at all levels of the health system. - Sock It to Kidney Disease. Join Cooper in celebrating World Kidney Day on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Wear your craziest socks to raise awareness and spread the word about the importance of maintaining healthy kidneys. Don’t forget to share your pictures on Pulse+.
- Monday Was World Obesity Day. Obesity can negatively affect a person’s health, both physically and psychologically. Lifestyle changes such as increased exercise and diet modifications can help, and for some patients, bariatric surgery is also an option. To learn more, click here.
- Smartworks Scheduled Downtime Starts March 13. Cooper’s third-party print and digital partner, Taylor, Inc., is making updates to Smartworks’ online ordering for forms, signs, and marketing literature. You will not be able to order anything from March 13 through Monday, March 18. The desktop courier will continue delivering documents ordered prior to the downtime. For more information, click here.
- Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) Begins Next Week. While there are many exciting and educational events planned for next week, we know that every week is about safety awareness. Please check Pulse+ and Weekly Rounds starting Monday to learn how to participate and win prizes as we celebrate this year’s national theme, “We are safer together.”
