What You Should Know This Week:

  • Patient Safety Awareness Week. Everyday patient safety is a top priority. This week, however, we take extra time to thank all team members who keep our patients safe.   • Health Care HR Week. Thank you to our extraordinary human resources professionals for the important role you play in ensuring that all team members across the health system receive the support and services they need to do their jobs well. To see some pictures of the team, click here.
  • Cybersecurity Is Everyone’s Business. Due to recent surges in cyberattacks targeting hospitals and health care providers, Cooper’s Information Security team has provided key concerns and tips on how you can help protect Cooper’s cybersecurity. Click here to read more.
  • Another Cooper First – Exciting Advances in Cardiology. Cooper cardiologists Ketan Gala, MD, FACC, and Adam Levine, DO, FACC, FSCAI, recently implanted Cooper’s first two CardioMEMS ™ HF Systems by Abbot, launching a new and innovative monitoring tool for patients with heart failure. In another significant achievement, a team of interventional cardiologists with Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care is the first in the region, and one of very few in the country, to use the FARAPULSE™ PFA System by Boston Scientific for treatment of atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular or rapid heart rhythm.   • Celebrate Child Life Month With Us. March is a time to express our gratitude for the invaluable work of certified child life specialists and other members of the Child Life Program and Creative Arts Therapy team. These team members use their understanding of child and adolescent development to assess each child’s needs, resulting in more positive patient experiences.   • Show Your Wild Socks. The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) team is inviting all of us to celebrate World Down Syndrome Awareness Day with “Lots of Socks” on Thursday, March 21, 2024, to raises awareness, promote acceptance, and advocate for the rights of individuals with Down syndrome. On March 21, please wear your favorite colorful and wild socks and post pictures of them on Pulse+. For more information, click here.
  • Join the Narrative. Please join the Center for Humanism for a Narrative Medicine Workshop on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. The event will take place at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Room 522. For more information, click here.

Reminders:

  • Sock It to Kidney Disease. Join Cooper in celebrating World Kidney Day tomorrow, March 14, 2024. Wear your wildest socks to raise awareness and spread the word about the importance of maintaining healthy kidneys. Don’t forget to share your pictures on Pulse+.
  • Smartworks Scheduled Downtime. Cooper’s third-party print and digital partner, Taylor, Inc., is making updates to Smartworks’ online ordering for forms, signs, and marketing literature. You will not be able to order anything from Wednesday, March 13 through Monday, March 18, 2024. The desktop courier will continue delivering documents ordered prior to the downtime. For more information, click here.
  • ServiceNow Portal Updates. Thank you to the Cooper IT team for updating the ServiceNow portal and making the site even more user-friendly. Click here to see the changes.
  • CooperUnite’s Assessment-Informed Launch Is Live. The Assessment-Informed Launch allows Cooper team members to easily assess a patient’s needs for essential services such as food, shelter, health care, employment, and financial assistance, and to search for resources within the Epic patient chart. Click here to read more.
