What You Should Know This Week:
- Pride Month Events. Throughout June, there are several events celebrating Pride Month. For a full calendar of events, click here. Yesterday, a kickoff celebration event was held on the hospital lawn. To see pictures of the event and read the moving address given by Dr. Joseph Montella, Cooper’s Chief Medical Officer, click here. Today, the Mayor of Collingswood, M. James Maley, joined the Cooper Care Alliance team as they opened a new Cooper Center for LGBTQ+ Health office in town. - Cooper’s New Farm Fresh Produce Program. Cooper has teamed up with Rancocas Creek Farm to offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program that brings fresh, healthy food directly to our patients and team members. Through a grant, Cooper patients experiencing food scarcity will have access to fresh produce. Additionally, 25 Cooper team members will be able to purchase this fresh produce at a reduced rate. - Response and Prevention. Did you know Cooper offers a Hospital Assault Response and Prevention (HARP) program designed to train team members in assault safety best practices, de-escalation strategies, protect-exit skills, and management of volatile patients and visitors? Register through the Cooper Learning Network (CLN).
- Today Is Scrub and Linen Awareness Day. Cooper is hosting a “Scrub Awareness Day” booth across from the Kelemen elevators on the second floor leading to the hospital cafeteria today, June 5, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, click here.
- Friday, June 7, 2024, Is #HAVhope Day. “Hospitals Against Violence” represents a national day of awareness that highlights how hospitals and health systems are combating violence. For more information, click here.
- Get Your Personal Alert Button. To get your personal alert button for your ID badge, you must complete a safety course on the Cooper Learning Network (CLN) listed under “My Tasks” by Friday, June 7, 2024. - Upcoming Concerts to Affect Traffic in Camden. Please be advised that there will be increased traffic congestion in Camden starting Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9, 2024, due to concerts at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. Please plan accordingly. Check concert times here.
- This Week Is National CPR and AED Awareness Week, which emphasizes the significance of prompt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use. On Friday, June 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Cooper’s Center for Resuscitation Education and Community Engagement will hold a National CPR Awareness event in the Roberts Pavilion lobby. - Humanism in Medicine. Join the Center for Humanism for a Narrative Medicine Workshop on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Cooper University Hospital Starbucks Conference Room. Participants will read a short narrative piece that touches on themes of humanism in medicine, write a brief reflection in response to it, and share their work with the group – though sharing is not required to participate. Reminders:
- Micro-Learnings on Cybersecurity. Health care systems remain major targets of cyberattacks. Cooper will be assigning regular micro-learning educational courses on cybersecurity topics to all team members. These courses will help keep Cooper safe and help you keep your personal computer systems safe as well. Some courses are already available on the CLN by typing “cybersecurity” into the search bar. - CEUs Available: Register for Upcoming Conferences on Care for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Cooper is hosting two separate conferences on caring for individuals with IDD on Friday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 26, 2024. All team members are welcome. Click here for more information.
