Co-CEO Message – February 8, 2023

Dear Cooper Team:

February is in full effect; be sure to check Pulse and Pulse+ for details about what is happening this month. Thank you for all you do for our patients and our community.  

What You Should Know This Week:  

  • Cooper is celebrating Black History Month with our first-ever marketplace event, taking place every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout February. We hope you will stop by to check it out. Click here for more information.
  • Schwartz Center Rounds. Cooper team members who have had an experience of being a patient themselves are invited to be on a panel for the February 22, 2023, Schwartz Center Rounds, “When the Healthcare Worker Becomes the Patient.” For more information, click here.
  • LGBTQ+ Centered Care Education Training Available. To maintain our status as a Top Performer in LGBTQ+ Health, all Cooper team members are invited to participate in the free educational training. The training is part of Cooper’s continued efforts to better serve our LGBTQ+ patients, families, and community members. For more information, click here.
  • Congratulations to Olivia Roma, RN, this quarter’s Good Catch Winner as chosen by you. Olivia used her HRO principle of Preoccupation With Failure to prevent her patient from receiving a dangerous second dose of a medication. To hear Olivia tell her story, click here.   • Football February. To celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles playing in Super Bowl LVII this Sunday, a tailgate-themed lunch will be held in the hospital cafeteria on Friday, February 10, and Sunday, February 12. Our off-site locations will receive Philly soft pretzels to enjoy with their team members. Eagles trivia has also kicked off on Pulse+. Daily winners, at random, will receive Eagles gear and merchandise. This Friday, feel free to wear your favorite sports (Eagles) jersey, provided it’s appropriate given your work that day.

Reminders:

  • All month we will be celebrating the C.A.R.E. team’s second annual Random Acts of Kindness initiative. To view ideas or request a bag of kindness coins, click here.
  • Deadline is this Friday, February 10, to nominate deserving nurses and patient care team members for the 2023 Nursing Excellence Awards. For more information, click here. For the full nomination packet, click here.

COVID Updates:

  • New Jersey reported another 1,345 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 9 confirmed deaths. For more information, click here.
  • The CDC Community Level for Camden County is currently back to HIGH. Masks are required at non-clinical locations. Check the Pulse COVID-19 section every week to know our current masking requirements (details here).

  • Theme of the Week: Early Monday, a pair of powerful earthquakes devastated parts of southeastern Turkey and northern Syria. More than 11,000 people have lost their lives, and tens of thousands have been left injured and homeless. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to all those who have been affected by the destruction, and we hope for successful search and rescue efforts to reunite loved ones and bring more lives to safety.
