Dear Cooper Team:
We hope you are having a safe and productive week. Thank you for all you are doing to keep our patients, community, and each other safe. We wish everyone who celebrates a Merry Christmas and a happy start to Kwanzaa this weekend.
What You Should Know This Week:
- Email Security Banner: External emails have a new look clearly identifying the sender. This change was made to help you stay vigilant when opening emails from outside of Cooper. For more information, click here.
- Growing With Cooper is a new series that will highlight team members who have used Cooper resources to grow their careers at Cooper. May it inspire you to take advantage of the variety of resources available to you. Be sure to look for these extraordinary stories in 2024. Click here to read Dhurata’s and Lucia’s stories.

- The COVID-19 masking policy has been updated in preparation for a potential increase in COVID-19, influenza, and RSV cases in coming months. You can find the updated masking policies on the Cooper Policy Network for clinical sites (hospital and ambulatory offices). The updated policies are consistent with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and New Jersey Department of Health guidelines and are based upon COVID-19 hospital admission levels. For the policy and more information, click here.
- Please join us for the Mindfulness and Mystery series, a virtual option for engaging in mindfulness exercises led by a “mystery” Cooper team member. Listen to the mindfulness exercise and guess the identity of the mystery team member. For additional information and to participate for a chance of winning a raffle prize, click here.

- We ask all team members to be vigilant when it comes to visitors to our facilities. If a visitor is not wearing a Cooper badge or a proper visitor sticker, ask them if you can assist them or notify a member of the Security team. Last week, a medical student from Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, who had previously shadowed Cooper staff and was wearing his medical school ID, inappropriately gained access to areas of the hospital. The student left without incident. This a good reminder for all of us to question anyone who does not have a Cooper badge or a proper visitor badge. Remember, if you see something, say something.
- Unfortunately, a team member’s car was stolen from the Medical School garage last Friday evening. According to the Camden County Police Department (CCPD), there has been a rise in vehicular thefts. While the Camden County Sherrif’s Officers patrol all our parking garages, they cannot monitor the entire garage at all times. Please, if you see something suspicious, say something – call Cooper Security at 856.342.2400 or 911. Additionally, remember to lock your vehicles and don’t leave valuables in plain sight.
Reminders:
- 2024 Nursing Excellence Award nominations are now open. Please take a moment to nominate deserving nurses and patient care team members for the 2024 Nursing Excellence Awards. For the full nomination packet, click here.
- As part of our #everyBODYmoves campaign, Cooper has been participating in the Johns Hopkins Activity and Mobility Promotion to help combat any harm patients may face due to immobility during their hospital stay. To see how the program is working, click here.
- Secure your phone, don’t leave it alone. We are experiencing an increase in the theft of personal and Cooper-owned cell phones. For more information and tips on precautions you can take, click here.
