What You Should Know This Week:
- One more day to nominate a team member for the 2023 Armed Forces Person of the Year Award. To learn more about the award criteria and how you can submit a nomination, click here. The deadline for nominations is TOMORROW – August 31, 2023.
- Perfect 10 out of 10 Score. Researchers at Cooper and CMSRU recently received a two-year grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to study disparities in doctor-patient relationships. AHRQ’s scientific review group gave the grant application a perfect impact score of 10, placing the Cooper/CMSRU grant in the top 1% of all research grant applications received. - Chris Ault a Rising Star. Congratulations to Chris Ault, FACHE, Chief Revenue Officer, for being named in Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of Rising Stars: Health Care Leaders Under 40 as part of the next generation of health care leaders across the country helping to prioritize access to care, cost reduction, and patient experience. - The Joint Commission will be visiting Cooper to conduct an in-person, two-day recertification of our Comprehensive Stroke Program. The visit will take place sometime between September 15 and December 14, 2023. To prepare for the survey, team members in all areas of the hospital should be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke and what to do if they think someone is having a stroke. - Tomorrow is International Overdose Awareness Day. According to research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one million people have died since 1999 from a drug overdose in the U.S. To learn how Cooper has been instrumental in spearheading new services to address substance use disorders and the opioid crisis in our community, click here.
- Mindful Mondays. Join Cooper’s Compassion and Resiliency Experience Program for Mindful Mondays to learn how to reduce stress, improve attention, boost the immune system, and live more presently. These brief, drop-in meditation sessions are open to all Cooper team members – no experience is necessary, and no registration is required. The first Mindful Monday will take place on September 11, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Center, Room 105. Click here to read more.
- Get your wellness on this fall. Carebridge Corporation, Cooper’s employee assistance program, is offering several free, online support sessions through September 2023. Click here for a full list of sessions.
- Coming in September, Cooper will be hosting several career fairs and interview events to staff our growing organization. For dates and details, click here.
Reminders:
- Down to the wire. Mandatory education assignments are due September 6, 2023.
- Year 3 – Cooper was named one of America’s Best-in-State Employers by Forbes. Cooper was one of only 12 health systems in New Jersey to make the Forbes list in 2023. To read more, click here.
- Revised COVID-19 masking policy in effect. The changes are consistent with CDC guidance and practices at other academic health systems. Changes apply only in select clinical areas; there are no changes in masking requirements for non-clinical buildings or ambulatory offices other than MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. - New convenience with Amazon Lockers. Order on Amazon and pick up in the hallway between the Hospital Garage and the Roberts Pavilion lobby. Cooper’s locker name, assigned by Amazon, is “Bonaficio” on the Amazon website. For instructions, click here.
- Please remain vigilant. Criminals are using artificial intelligence to make more effective and harder to mitigate. If you see something that seems suspicious, immediately contact Cooper’s Help Desk and send an email to infosec@cooperhealth.edu or spam-alert@cooperhealth.edu.
- Save time and skip the line! Order meals from the Cooper Court Cafeteria in advance with the Everyday app. Every order you place enters you into a monthly raffle for a Phillies shirt or a pizza party for up to 15 people. To learn more, click here.
