Co-CEO Message – May 17, 2023

Dear Cooper Team:

We hope everyone is having a safe and productive week. Thank you for all you do for our patients and each other.

What You Should Know This Week:

  • Congratulations to the Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care team for innovative new treatment. Earlier this month, the teams implanted the first-in-the-region Abbott Navitor™ transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) system to treat people with severe aortic stenosis. The TAVI system implant is a less invasive procedure reducing the number of people who need to undergo high risk open-heart surgery. Thank you to Janah Aji, MD, FACC, Interventional Cardiologist and Director of the Cooper Cardiac Catheterization Lab, for leading the team that implanted Abbott’s latest-generation TAVI system. This procedure improves patient outcomes. To read more, click here.
  • New State Law and Your Medical Record. Beginning tomorrow, May 18, 2023, a new law in New Jersey requires hospitals and clinical laboratories to provide patients with a specific opportunity to update their medical records to reflect current information on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Initially, Cooper patients will be able to update their medical record in myCooper as we await regulations from the New Jersey Department of Health. Click here to learn how to update your medical record information.
  • The Cooper Innovation Center partnered with DigiCARE Realized to accelerate early-stage Alzheimer’s detection technology.
