New Cooper Masking Policy

Cooper’s new masking policy is as follows:

Masking will be at the discretion of the individual team member, patient, or visitor (except in MD Anderson at Cooper locations—please see below).

Masking will be required by team members and visitors in the following situations (except in MD Anderson at Cooper locations—please see below):

  • Upon request by the patient or patient’s representative.
  • Patient-facing encounters where mask is required by assigned transmission-based precautions.
  • When entering inpatient care space of patient who is on neutropenic/protective precautions. The policy, 10.111-Isolation Precautions, has been revised.
  • Individual has upper respiratory symptoms not consistent with ILI and tested negative for COVID-19, has had a known exposure to COVID-19 within the last 10 days, is within 10-20 days after a COVID-19 infection, or is recovering from a URI.
  • On an inpatient unit where a COVID outbreak has been identified.
  • Ambulatory patient-facing encounters with immunocompromised patients.

Masking at all MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper locations —2 Cooper Plaza (MD Anderson at Cooper building), MD Anderson at Cooper Willingboro building, MD Anderson at Cooper Voorhees offices (Radiation Oncology, Infusion, and MDA Multidisciplinary)—will be as follows:

  • Patients and visitors must always remain masked at all locations.
  • Masking is required for team members in any area where there is reasonable chance that patients will be present (EXCLUDING non-clinical offices or breakrooms).

Please respect and support every team member, patient, or visitor who wishes to continue to wear a mask in any Cooper facility.
