Co-CEO Message – February 1, 2023

Dear Cooper Team:

We hope everyone is having a safe and productive week. There are a number of events and recognitions in February; be sure to check Pulse and Pulse+ for details.

What You Should Know This Week:  

  • February is Black History Month, an opportunity to highlight the many significant achievements made by Black Americans to our nation’s success. We encourage you to use Pulse+ to share your reflections during Black History Month and to test your knowledge with new trivia questions posted every weekday. Everyone who answers correctly will be entered into a weekly drawing for an opportunity to win prizes. To read more, click here.
  • It’s also American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day this Friday, February 3, 2023. If you wear red, share your photos on Pulse+. For more information, click here.
  • This week is Patient Recognition Week. We exist for our patients. This week and throughout the year, please remember to do all you can to ensure our patients are having an excellent experience at Cooper. To read more, click here.
  • Football February. To celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles advancing to Super Bowl LVII, a tailgate-themed lunch will be held in the hospital cafeteria on Friday, February 10, and Sunday, February 12. Our off-site locations will receive Philly soft pretzels to enjoy with their team members. Also, starting tomorrow, Eagles trivia questions will be posted on Pulse+. Winners at random will receive Eagles gear and merchandise. This Friday and next, feel free to wear your favorite sports (Eagles) jersey, provided it’s appropriate given your work that day.
  • Stop by Cooper Security’s information table on Tuesday, February 7, to learn more about security improvements and our ongoing See Something, Say Something campaign. Click here for more information.
  • All month we will be celebrating the C.A.R.E. team’s second annual Random Acts of Kindness initiative. To view ideas or request a bag of kindness coins, click here.

Reminders:

  • Starbucks is now offering extended hours twice a month. The Starbucks located in the lobby of Roberts Pavilion is now offering extended hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the first and last Tuesdays of every month. For more information, click here.

COVID Updates:

  • New Jersey reported another 1,318 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 12 confirmed deaths. For more information, click here.
  • The CDC Community Level for Camden County is currently MEDIUM. Masks are no longer required at non-clinical locations. Check the Pulse COVID-19 section every week to know our current masking requirements (details here).

  • Theme of the Week: This Friday, February 3, is National Women Physicians Day. It marks the anniversary of the birth of Elizabeth Blackwell, MD, the very first female physician in the United States, who received her medical degree in 1849. Please join us in acknowledging and celebrating all of the talented female physicians here at Cooper and across the nation. We appreciate all you do to advance medicine, teach the next generation of medical professionals, and heal our patients.
