What You Should Know This Week:
- Today, New Jersey reported another 24 deaths and 3,274 COVID-19 cases as the seven-day average for confirmed positive tests has tripled since last month. The seven-day average, the highest since April, increased to 3,268 – a 61% increase from a week ago and 205% increase from last month. The peak seven-day average in New Jersey was 5,106 on December 8, 2020, before vaccines were available. To read more click here.
- National supply chain challenges continue due to COVID-19. Our IMT is working to address a number product shortages that Cooper, and health systems across the country, are experiencing. Our IMT and Supply Chain Team are on top of this issue and working to provide daily updates to clinical teams on how to address these challenges.
- The flu vaccine deadline has been extended, please comply before 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Click here for additional flu clinic dates and here for exemptions.
- MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper surgical oncologists Francis R. Spitz, MD, FACS, Vice Chief of the Department of Surgery at Cooper University Health Care and Deputy Director of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and Young K. Hong, MD, MPH, were recently appointed to the editorial board of a prestigious medical journal. Click here to read more.
- Recently, there has been an uptick in phone scams directed toward physicians. Although this particular theme was targeted to physicians, it is a good reminder for all of us to be aware of fraudulent calls and phishing emails. - Reminder: COVID-19 booster eligibility has expanded: Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J boosters are available to all Cooper team members at the Kelemen Circle tent, ambulatory offices, and retail locations. To schedule your booster shot, visit myCooper. Vaccines and boosters are also available at The Camden County Health Hub in Blackwood on Tuesdays and Thursdays and can also be scheduled on myCooper.
- Reminder that we’ll be at the Cherry Hill Mall this weekend: In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health and the Camden County Coalition, Cooper will continue to host a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at the Cherry Hill Mall on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will continue every second weekend of the month through April. Thank you to our dedicated Vaccine Team for all their time and effort.
- Have you seen Cooper’s Safety Elf? The Twelve Days of Safety began today. Now through December 23, you can follow the Cooper Safety Elf on Pulse+ to win a pizza party for your unit by competing in safety quizzes. The more you participate, the more chances you have to win. - A Cooper holiday gift is coming your way. Due to COVID-19, we are not able to have our annual holiday lunch again this year. Instead, every team member will receive a small gift of appreciation in the mail for all of your hard work.
- Keep your ears open for an overhead page in the hospital tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. announcing a special holiday concert that will be performed by CMSRU students’ acapella group at 3 p.m. The performance will be live streamed on Channel 68 on hospital TVs for patients and recorded and shared with everyone at a later date.
