What You Should Know This Week:     

  • Cooper Nurse Honored as National Nurse Resident of the Year. Congratulations to Ian Griffiths, Clinical Nurse Manager, who has been named the 2025 Vizient/American Association of Critical Care Nurses’ Nurse Resident of the Year. Ian’s impactful leadership and innovative contributions during his residency have earned him well-deserved national recognition. Click here to read more.
  • Cooper Earns National Recognition for Surgical Safety. Cooper University Hospital has been nationally recognized by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses as a Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety: Smoke Evacuation. Cooper earned the prestigious Go Clear™ Award for its efforts in eliminating surgical smoke, a hazardous byproduct of laser and electrosurgical procedures. Click here to learn more.
  • Enhancing Readiness for Military Medical Teams. Cooper’s Section of Military, Diplomatic, and Field Affairs provides advanced clinical trauma training for elite commandos and special operations forces.   • Vote. Cooper is honored to be a finalist in two categories for the prestigious New Jersey Social Innovation Awards: Rachel Haroz, MD, in the Excellence in Population and Public Health category, and Cooper’s Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Program, in the Advancing Health Equity category.   • After-Visit Summaries Now Available in Español. After-visit summaries (AVS) are now available in Spanish in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. If a patient’s primary language is indicated as Spanish in Epic, the AVS will default to Spanish. Clinicians can still view the AVS in English on the WOWs. For additional information, click here.
  • Blood Drive at Cooper Camden on April 16. Please join us for a blood drive on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cooper University Hospital, Conference Center, Room CC121. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. To register or learn more, click here.
  • April Is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support families, and protect the well-being of children in our community. The blue pinwheels in Cooper University Hospital’s Healing Garden are the national symbol of child abuse prevention. For more information, click here.

  • April Is National Donate Life Month. Join the effort to raise awareness about the urgent need for organ and tissue donors by wearing blue and green—symbols of donation—on National Blue and Green Day, Friday, April 11, 2025.   • Attention Cooper Physicians and Medical Professionals. Cooper’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Department continues its speaker series with “Breaking the Cycle: Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and Anxiety in Adolescents,” on April 18, 2025. Click here to register. 
  • Cooper Camden: New Badges Are Here. Cooper has started distributing updated ID badges to all Cooper Camden team members. Badges are being distributed by unit location. Click here for more information.
  • Congratulations to the Recipients of the 2025 Nursing Excellence Awards. For our list of winners, click here. The winners of the William A. Schwartz, Jr. Nurse of the Year Award and the Cooper Cape Nurse of the Year Award will be announced at the awards reception on May 12, 2025. Stay tuned!
  • PATCO Night Schedule Disruption. PATCO will be temporarily stopping overnight weekday train service from midnight to 4 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for six months starting this spring. The official start date has not yet been announced. We encourage you to plan ahead.
