Co-CEO Update – January 22, 2025

Dear Cooper Team:

What You Should Know This Week:

  • Hospital Assault Response and Prevention (HARP) Training. HARP training includes assault safety best practices, de-escalation strategies, protect-exit skills, and management techniques for handling volatile patients and visitors. Sessions are conducted in person at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Register through the Cooper Learning Network (CLN).
  • Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, FACS, Named 2025 President of EAST. Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Fox, trauma surgeon and medical director of Cooper’s Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, on being named president of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) for 2025. This prestigious appointment is a testament to Dr. Fox’s dedication and leadership in the field of trauma surgery.
  • Submission Deadline: 2025 CMSRU Story Slam. Cooper’s annual Story Slam takes place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at noon in the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) auditorium. All team members are welcome to submit their story ideas or attend the event. The deadline for submissions is January 24, 2025. Click here for more information.
  • New Podcast Alert. Check out the newest episode of Out in the Crowd With Mazz and O’Dowd. In this episode, we’re joined by Emily Scattergood, MD, to discuss Cooper’s Peer Support Program.   • Maternal Health Awareness Day on January 23. The maternal mortality rate in the United States remains unacceptably high, and the majority of these deaths are preventable. At Cooper, we’re committed to leading the way with advanced maternal-fetal medicine, specialized care, and a dedicated team that puts mothers and families first, including a volunteer doula program.   • Cervical Health Education Event on January 25. You are invited to attend an educational workshop designed to increase understanding about cervical health, risks, screenings, and preventive care. Click here for more information.

  • NEW Date. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Food Distribution Event. Team members will distribute non-perishable and ready-to-eat food items to Camden County residents on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For additional information, click here.
