What You Should Know This Week:

  • Congratulations to Jeffrey J. Tomaszewski, MD, Division Head of Urology and Director of Genitourinary Oncology, who was one of only 150 doctors nationwide recognized as one of America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeons 2024 by Newsweek and Statista.
  • Cooper Medical School of Rowan University Dedicates Center for Humanism in Honor of Its Visionary Founder, Edward D. Viner, MD. Under its new name, the Edward D. Viner Humanism Center will continue to foster a new generation of physicians committed to the humanistic values that Dr. Viner has championed throughout his illustrious career at Cooper.   • Extraordinary Stroke Care. Cooper University Hospital in Camden received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award in recognition of its commitment to providing the most appropriate, research-based stroke treatment guidelines.   • All Heart. Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care were the first in the region to implant the EVOQUE tricuspid valve replacement system, the first transcatheter therapy to receive FDA approval for the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation. For more information, click here.
  • NJ Transit River Line Issues. We are aware of the delays and cancellations currently affecting NJ Transit and are actively working with elected officials to reduce future disruptions. Please continue to plan your travel to and from Camden accordingly and allocate extra time for your daily commute as we work to resolve the issue.   • Parking Policy Reminder for Camden Campus. The first four floors of the Hospital Garage and the first three floors of the Sheridan Garage are reserved exclusively for patients. Effective Monday, August 5, 2024, team members who park in patient-designated spaces will receive a violation notice, which will also be copied to their supervisors. The parking policy, which applies to all team members with garage parking privileges, is a reasonable accommodation to ensure our patients have parking when visiting our facilities.   • Schwartz Center Rounds – Panelists Needed. The Schwartz Center Rounds aim to enhance compassionate health care and strengthen the bond between patients and caregivers. These monthly gatherings bring together caregivers from all levels to discuss the social, emotional, and ethical aspects of patient and family care.   • July Is Disability Pride Month. This annual celebration honors the disability community’s history, achievements, experiences, and struggles. To read more about the history of Disability Pride Month and to learn more about Cooper’s programs that support the disability community, click here.
  • Save the Date. Join Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Kaitlan Baston, MD, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health, for a special symposium – Housing First: From Street to Stability on Friday, September, 13, 2024.   • Epic Build Freeze Coming This Fall. One of our top IT priorities this year is implementing Epic and Sunquest Lab platforms for Cooper at Cape, scheduled for October 1, 2024.
